I swear that I have spent at least two thousand dollars this year in various vet bills for the animals. Last week, I noticed that our littlest kitty, June, had worms in her poop. Delicious, I know. I knew that that what I saw were tapeworms, so I called the vet. She told me that the only way a cat can get these worms are from rodents or by eating fleas. Well, I know that these cats aren’t killing any mice, and I didn’t think anyone had fleas (haven’t seen one, and I give them medication for this) so I’m not sure how she got them. I had to take her in to get some meds today, and ended up walking out with several other maintenance medications for the other animals too, totaling just under a hundred bucks.
I also received a friendly reminder that June is due for some shots, and that it’s almost time for her to be fixed. Ugh!

Oh yes, wait till they get old and you have to pay for teeth cleaning and removing lumps.
But pets are great, such healthy distractions to love and gain love from the world. My dogs are my little people which I love. My cat is too cool for school, but I can watch him in fascination for periods which takes you into a different world, he is so complacent, nothing bothers him… I rough him up, and he leaves then turns around and comes back for more.

I know what you mean! My kitty Milo had tapeworms a while ago too. He wasn’t on flea meds though and we let him outside quite a bit, so I’m pretty sure that’s how he got them. Luckily my vet has pretty reasonable prices. Pets definitely come with their drawbacks, but I think they’re worth it for all the love they bring

I know how it is… except not with such little things (not saying they’re trivial, in the least)… my dog recently fractured her leg playing with another dog of ours… My dog, Roxxane, fractured her leg awhile ago, and it couldn’t have just been a simple fracture, but it was one that they couldn’t fix at the vet itself, so she had to go to a surgery special vet and cause she’s a pom, and so small, it cost more - so we ended up spending a little over 3k having her leg fixed.
Stupid lovable furry monsters.
